A brand new baby is born and did she ever enter this world with a silver spoon in her mouth!
She comes from the globally-known Hilton family, recognized for its full-service hospitality and world class sophistication. Her name is the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel and she has already achieved a new height of opulence as she is Branson’s most towering addition with twelve glass stories.
Chic Hilton decor in the Ozarks.
She made her grand debut in September, 2007; she was designed to blend the entertainment capital of Midwest Branson’s wooded mountains and winding roads with modern design and the upscale amenities and service that comprises Hiltons’ world class standard that guests have always experienced. In the center of America, in the middle of the Ozarks, guests will relish a metropolitan hotel. Urban meets nature, if you will.
As quickly as I could place one Fiorentini & Baker boot-clad foot into the Arctic-ish Ozark air, the valet parking attendant whisks my vehicle away and another attendant leads me into a colossal lobby with a dramatic staircase that is already the backdrop of many formal and not-so-formal events.
The modern-styled lobby.
An unforgettable display of dazzling chandeliers suspends from 40-foot soaring ceilings and resembles brilliant stalactite formations. Mod furnishings, radical curves of the wide halls and abstract art and paintings are infused with traditional pieces such as large stone fireplaces. Am I in California or Missouri? I ask myself. They say that it only takes a couple of minutes for the first impression to leave its mark and the signature states elegant yet comfortable. Similar to my classic designer outfits that I turn to every time. They never let me down regardless of the location or occasion.
Dressed in Calvin Klein, I could still never begin to compete with this beauty’s style. As I enter the contemporary-clad room with its high tech functionality, I am reminded of the commercials and ads that claim, “Style Meets Substance” or “Beauty Marries Brains”.
Contemporary bedding sets.
The Hilton’s beauty is not only external but also internal. When the curtains are drawn; when the doors are open, guests experience the red carpet treatment as luxurious Pacific Coast down comforters in bold trendy colors of black and red and 250-thread count European-style linens clothe the Hilton Serenity Bed with Serta Suite Dreams mattress.
Rooms: Many oversized guest rooms and suites with a view of Lake Taneycomo: 159 Double Queens; 9 Single Queens; 86 Kings; 40 Suites.
The 32-inch flat panel LCD televisions deliver movies upon demand, even those currently playing in theaters! The beauty with brains also provides granite top workstations, and ergonomic chairs, the Hilton signature clock radio with MP3 adapters, wired and wireless high-speed Internet, and so much more. A personal spa experience can be achieved with luxurious bath products that were exclusively produced for Hilton by Crabtree & Evelyn. Brushed hammered stainless steel bar and bathroom accessories balance the warm and heavy granite and wood accents of the room. Windows galore provide a mystic view of Branson as the heavy fog illuminates the Christmas lights and sights. Unbelievably, without any photo editing at all, the scene in reality or on camera resembles an image stolen from Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” What a contrast to be standing in a most high tech room and yet staring into the past.
On demand movies.
True beauty touches the mind, body, and spirit and the Hilton’s heated indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpool spa, and full-service fitness center does indeed accomplish this. My thirty-minute jog turned into an unplanned hour-long run thanks to state-of-the art Precor treadmill. It’s amazing how fast time flies when you’re watching your favorite show while running. No more watching the clock! This is NOT your typical hotel gym here. You know, the old Universal set up that no one actually can use or one cardio machine that doesn’t actually work. No, this is a true fitness center with brand new, high tech cardio machines, Swiss balls, stretch machine, a Universal gym, and free weights! Now for those who really do use the fitness facilities while away from home, you WILL be amazed!
Heated indoor and outdoor pools.

A dip in the heated pool only tempts me to double dare myself to head out in the wintry 19 degree weather to brave the outdoor pool. Reminiscent of the hot springs pools in the Rocky Mountains, the steam matches my breath in the icy air as I take the plunge. Looking up from the pool the hotel’s height is breathtaking. Then I cap off my personal spa experience with a soak in both the outdoor and indoor hot tubs.
Culinary delights await me at the fashionable Trofi restaurant and lounge nestled on the second floor of the hotel. Adorned in tres chic yet simple fashion, Trofi stands up to its name as its meaning in Greek is “to nourish”. The finest that Europe has to offer in both taste and nutrition is delivered in my palatial Mediterranean Sampler appetizer. With its origins from Tuscany, the bruschetta is perfectly toasted and deliciously seasoned with garlic and olive oil.
Culinary delights at Trofi.
Crisp-as-springtime cucumbers, roasted tomatoes, olives, feta cheese (a traditional favorite of the Greeks), marinated mushrooms, roasted peppers, nutritious hummus and baba ganoush made with eggplant (both are highly prized foods from middle-eastern countries), and tsatziki (a yogurt blended with cucumbers, garlic, and olive oil borrowed from Greece and Turkey) are all accompaniments to the bruschetta and pita bread.
Move over appetizer, here come the real meal, I say to myself. Although working out is a part of my daily repertoire I have to admit that I am very blessed with good genetics. Otherwise, the BCBG gown will have to be changed to adjustable bib overalls designed by Wrangler. Not that I would mind but I doubt very much that overalls is the attire for my main course Fettucine with Prawns. Sauteed in white wine, aromatic garlic, and spremuta del limone, accompanied with tender artichoke hearts. Perhaps I should change to the bib overalls as buttery prawns and Tattinger Champagne dribbles down my BCBG.
Another new hit is the Hilton

As I snuggle into thick, deep beddings and enjoy the movie Queen Elizabeth while large snowflakes float outside my windows, room service brings a savory chocolate raspberry dessert. That's another reason Hilton is a Hit - in Branson!
