Riedel Vinum Bordeaux/Cabernet/Merlot Glasses (Set of 6)

Riedel Vinum Bordeaux/Cabernet/Merlot Glasses (Set of 6)

As seen in American Way : Perfect for young, full-bodied (more than 12% alcohol), complex red wines that are high in tannin -- this glass smooths out the rough edges, emphasizing the fruit and allowing the wine to achieve a balance that would mornally take years of aging to acquire. The generous size of the glass allows the bouquet to develop fully. The shape directs the flow of wine onto the zone of the tongue which perceives sweetness, thus accentuating the fruit and de-emphasizing the bitter qualities of the tannin. Each of these magnificent glasses is specifically designed to enhance a wine's flavor and bouquet. By customizing the shape of the glass to the characteristics of each grape variety, the wine is able to achieve its fullest expression. Elegance, lightness, and balance are the hallmarks of Riedel stemware. Set of 6. 8 7/8"H, 22 oz. Recommended for: Bordeaux (red), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Tempranillo. Replacement Set of 2 is also available (WG20-002/2)

France White Wine - 2003 Chateau Haut Mallet - Gand Vin de Bordeaux

France White Wine - 2003 Chateau Haut Mallet - Gand Vin de Bordeaux

This is classically styled white Bordeaux. Made in a different style than American or New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, this wine shows off its oak-aging rather than its fruit and spices. Light gold in color, the wine has aromas of oak and light toast made of yeasty white bread. In the mouth, the wine yields flavors of toast and citrus fruits. The tannins are round and the feel is dry and crisp. Mineral flavors appear in the finish. This wine is meant to go with food rather than go it alone. Enjoy it with some tarragon roast chicken.

Chateau La Mouliniere Bordeaux Blanc 2005 (Wine)

Chateau La Mouliniere Bordeaux Blanc 2005 (Wine)

Wine Messenger Rating : 91 Country : France Region : Bordeaux Grape : Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon Alcohol : 11.5% Description : A fresh but substantial white Bordeaux that is a cut above the rest, thanks to advanced winemaking techniques. Release Notes : White Bordeaux has improved dramatically in recent decades. In the past, these wines, always a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, were acidic and unspectacular (with a few notable exceptions like the whites of Haut Brion). However, you can now find excellent examples of White Bordeaux that are comparable values to New World varietal wines. The familiar Sauvignon Blanc brings aromas, flavors and crispness while Semillon, the key component of the great sweet white Bordeaux of Sauternes and Barsac, gives these wines more substance and age-worthiness than a 100% Sauvignon. This wine is a blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Semillon, harvested at low yields. After the grapes are harvested by hand, an extended skin-contact maceration takes place. This extracts more flavor from the grapes and creates a more substantial, fruity wine. The wine is then vinified at low temperatures for 3 weeks before being matured on its lees for 3 months. Tasting Notes : Pale yellow color with floral aromas and with hints of citrus and green apple. Sauvignon dominates on the nose. Rich on the palate with good acidity. A long, fresh finish. A great summer drink or aperitif. This wine will pair nicely with oysters, shellfish, chicken or salads. Can keep for another couple years. Pair with : Aperitif, Chicken, Salads, Shellfish Winery : The property dates back to the 16th Century and is situated on sandy limestone soil near the Dordogne river. Its current owner, Jean-Jacques Lesgourgues, has beautifully restored the estate's buildings and gardens. He has also installed a state-of-the-art winery with the temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermentation tanks necessary to make good White Bordeaux, Chateau Cadillac Lesgourgues also has a second label, Chateau La Mouliniere. Region Info : Hundreds of books have been written on Bordeaux; its history (temporarily ruled by the English), its wines (the biggest wine region in the world), its terroirs (mainly alluvial soil made of stones and debris), its climate (hot but exposed to maritime weather which can create havoc at the time of harvest), and finally, its people (dynasties of ngociants or aristocratic owners of the most famous chateaux.) So we will only briefly summarize that information here. Bordeaux consists of relatively plain topography: flat and mostly devoid of trees. Two long rivers, the Garonnne and Dordogne, split the region half and then join together into the Gironde River that flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Despite the plain character, this region consists of the exact elements that produce wines of finesse, subtly and ageing. The moderate climate from the Atlantic and rivers creates a warming effect, protecting Bordeaux from frost. The gravel

Chteau Cadillac Lesgourgues Bordeaux Suprieur 2003 (Wine)

Chteau Cadillac Lesgourgues Bordeaux Suprieur 2003 (Wine)

Wine Messenger Rating : 91+ Country : France Region : Bordeaux Grape : Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon Alcohol : 12% Description : Our favorite Bordeaux Suprieur from one of the oldest properties in all of Bordeaux. Release Notes : The 2003 vintage produced many high-quality wines in Bordeaux. However, because of the extreme heat, it was a difficult vintage and there are some irregular wines. The best wines come from the northern Medoc (St. Julien), St. Emilion and Fronsac. Sandwiched between the legendary 2000 and 2005 vintages, 2003 is a buyer's vintage - the prices are very reasonable and the wines are made for drinking young. The yields at Chateau Cadillac are limited to a level far below most Bordeaux Superieurs. Like Pomerols and Fronsacs, it is a Merlot-driven wine (70%) with a smaller portion of Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) rounding out the blend. The grapes are destemmed before fermentation to avoid adding unnecessary tannins. They macerate at low temperature for 3 weeks, imparting enormous richness to the wine. Maturation takes place in oak barrels (1/3 new) for 12 months. Tasting Notes : A dark ruby red colored wine that has an intense, spicy nose of red berries, cinnamon, pepper, and licorice. It is medium-bodied and soft on the palate with flavors of vanilla, cocoa, fruit, and a touch of oak preceding a great finish with silky tannins. Will continue to improve over the next few years; serve with red meat, T-bone steaks, spicy dishes or strongly-flavored cheeses. Drink now to 2010. Pair with : Blooming Rind Cheese, Broiled Red Meats, Hard Cheese, Red Meats, Roasted Red Meats, Spicy Foods, Steak, Veined Cheese, Washed Rind Cheese Winery : The property dates back to the 16th Century and is situated on sandy limestone soil near the Dordogne river. The moderate climate from the Atlantic and rivers creates a warming effect, protecting Bordeaux from frost. The gravel soil drains water away from the vine roots, allowing the damp resistant Cabernet Sauvignon grape to fully mature. On a negative note, Bordeaux is subject to inconsistent vintages, some hot and dry, and some very wet and cool. To combat this inconsistency, Bordeaux blends together a variety of grapes that grow and mature at different stages. Therefore, a Bordeaux red may consist of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. A Bordeaux white is often the blend of S
