(Editor’s Note:  George Kapiniaris appeared at the 2009 Adelaide, Australia Fringe Festival at the Cavern Club, 136 North Trc.)

George Kapiniaris was high on my list of “must see” comedy acts at the 2009 FRINGE Festival held in Adelaide every year in March, and at I was privileged to lay witness to his premiere one man show “ROCKSTAR”.

Being a regular face on our commercial television here in Adelaide, I was keen to see George in his stand-up format, and he certainly didn’t let the audience down. From the opening moments, he grabbed my attention with reference to his proud ethnic roots, and revealing that now, as a recently new father, he is on his last hurrah to strut his stuff as a ROCKSTAR before his fatherhood duties take precedent.

George’s hilarious musical comedy took me through his road to fatherhood, and his dream for being a rockstar, and throughout the show, his strong Greek background and upbringing are shared magically to represent his proud heritage.

At times, I was touched by George’s reference to his new role as a father, and could feel the pride that he now carries with this title.

Overall, this one man show was jam packed full of comical genius, and with a concluding song of “I will never be an Aussie”, I would have to say, George Kapiniaris truly is an Aussie icon, and from my perspective, has done Adelaide and his country proud and this show is a “must see”.

With many Adelaidians relating to George as the man who says “Who can you trust??” In my eyes, you can be assured a night with George will have you leaving fulfilled and smiling. You can trust George Kapiniaris to deliver a night of fun filled entertainment.
